A new delivery service has been launched for people who want a virtual shopping experience akin to a farmers’ market.
Real Local is exclusive to Newcastle-under-Lyme and will see fresh, high-quality food and ingredients delivered from local independent shops to the doorsteps of residents in the borough.
Families can access their favourite produce from a number of trusted local suppliers – and receive it the next day.
Eleven artisan suppliers are already on board – including Bengry’s Bakers, The Cheshire Cheese company and Mrs Darlington’s – but more businesses are signing up every day.
Fiona Hawkins, ambassador of Real Local, said: “We have launched Real Local because we believe there is a genuine demand for a digital-style farmers market in Newcastle and nationally.
“Rather than traipsing from shop-to-shop to collect your favourite meat, baking, jams, veg etc, you can order them all from one place and receive them the next day in one tidy delivery.
“We’re confident in this service because many people are time poor, but enjoy quality, local and organic produce. There’s also a group of people who perhaps still don’t feel comfortable visiting shops or aren’t able to, but this still gives them the option to shop and eat local.”
Fiona added: “We’re also really pleased to announce that we will donate two per cent of our revenue to local foods banks such as The Trussell Trust because we want to make sure there is food on every table.”
