Armed police have been called to a Stoke-on-Trent street this evening.
Officers were called to Galsworthy Road, in the Saxonfields area of Longton at 8pm.
An eye-witness, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “There was an umarked police car sat just down the road with armed police sat in it.
“There was then another one further down by our shops and the Co-op was all locked up. I was at my nan’s dropping shopping when my neighbour called saying police had advised everyone to get in the house and lock all doors and windows.”
A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: “I can confirm that we have been to that area of Stoke-on-Trent this evening and armed officers are dealing with an isolated incident.
“Initial reports came in at 8pm and someone has now been detained.
“There is no threat to the public.”
