An investigation is underway into a blaze at a former working men’s club – as firefighters are treating the incident as ‘deliberate’.
Four fire engines as well as the aerial ladder platform were sent to the former Holden Lane Working Men’s Club, on Sneyd Green’s Ralph Drive, at around 7.30pm last night.
Today Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service say they are treating the blaze as deliberate as an investigation gets underway.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus went inside the building, which sits at the junction of Noblett Road, as they used ‘offensive tactics’ to tackle the blaze, which started on the first floor.
A fire service spokesman told StokeonTrentLive: “Six breathing apparatus wearers used offensive tactics to tackle the fire which started on the first floor.
“At this moment we are treating it as a deliberate fire.”
