Boy seriously injured in Stoke-on-Trent dog attack

A boy has suffered ‘serious injuries’ after being bitten by a dog in a Stoke-on-Trent neighbourhood.

Police and paramedics were called out to the Buccleuch Road area of Normacot just after 6pm on Sunday evening.

Residents in the area reported seeing a large number of police officers following the incident.

Now Staffordshire Police say enquiries are ongoing after the child had to be taken to hospital as a result of the injuries he sustained.

A spokesman for the force said: “Officers were called to Buccleuch Road, Normacot shortly after 6pm last night to reports a person had been bitten by a dog. A child was taken to hospital by colleagues at the ambulance service. Enquiries are being carried out.”

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 6.10pm to reports of an incident involving a dog on Chaplin Road.

“We treated a boy for serious injuries and he was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.”
