Breaking – Port Vale sign former Coventry defender Aaron Martin

Port Vale have made their fourth signing of the summer by recruiting experienced centre half Aaron Martin.

The 31-year old, who was with Hamilton last season joins midfielders Ben Garrity and Brad Walker and striker James Wilson as fellow new arrivals.

Martin had joined Hamilton in November, moving North after helping Exeter City reach the League Two play offs in 2019/20.

He began his career at Southampton and had two loans at Coventry City before joining them on a free transfer in 2015. he would move on to Oxford before his spell with the Grecians. He impressed at Hamilton but was out of contract and has opted to return south of the border.

His move gives Vale competition in central defence with Nathan Smith and Leon Legge also vying for the centre half places.

Vale released Shaun Brisley at the end of the season so were looking for at least one centre half as manager Darrell Clarke and director of football David Flitcroft rebuild the squad.
