The Cheltenham Festival comes to a conclusion today with seven races taking place, including the Gold Cup. Fans will be turning out in their thousands at the racecourse and millions more will be watching at home.
Racing starts at 1.30pm this afternoon and the going is soft, good to soft in places.
After Thursday’s racing, Simon Claisse, Cheltenham’s clerk of the course, said: “The feedback on the ground on the New course has been very good from jockeys and the races have been quicker on the clock than day two.
“We looked at the ground after race five and it was marginal whether it was good to soft, soft in places or soft, good to soft in places, but then we had a light shower.
“We’ll leave the description as soft, good to soft in places and we could get some showers in the next 24 hours.
“We’re also opening up some fresh chase ground tomorrow, not used since Gold Cup day last year.”
What is the weather forecast today at Cheltenham?
According to the Met Office, the day will be “dry to start with sunny spells” and “rain pushing in later” across south-west England.
The forecaster’s outlook reads: “Most places will see a dry morning with sunny spells, though there may be the odd shower.
