Confirmed COVID-19 cases rise across Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire and Cheshire East



The latest confirmed numbers of COVID-19 cases per area have been released this evening (Tuesday March 24).

Public Health England now say there are nine confirmed cases in Stoke-on-Trent, 76 in the rest of Staffordshire and 25 in Cheshire East.

Note that these are only the cases tested – which is usually just those who end up in hospital –  and the actual figure per area is expected to be much higher.

More precise information on where the cases are (in terms of town/village/area of the city etc) are not released by the government due to patient confidentiality.

Another 1,427 cases of the coronavirus were confirmed across the UK today.

There have now been a total of 8,077 cases across the country – including 8,077 in England.

A total of 422 people have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

The local authorities with the highest confirmed numbers of cases in England at the moment are Hampshire (207), Lambeth (188) and Birmingham (187).

In neighbouring areas there are 101 in Derbyshire (with another 37 in Derby), 27 in Shropshire (and another nine in Telford and Wrekin), 81 in Wolverhampton and 43 in Walsall.
