Coronation Street star Faye Brookes is to perform at the Regent Theatre.
Best known as Kate O’Conner in the ITV soap, Faye has also appeared in Dancing on Ice where she finished in second place earlier this year.
She will now star as Roxie Hart in Chicago at the Regent Threatre in Hanley alongside West End star Djalenga Scott who will be Velma Kelly.
As well as starring in Coronation Street, Faye has performed in a number of hit shows such as Shrek where she played Princess Fiona in Theatres and Legally Blonde where she was Elle Woods.
West End star Djalenga has been in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Annie, and the US tour of Batman Live.
Set during the razzle-dazzle of the 1920s, Chicago is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her lover after he threatens to walk out on her.
Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today’s tabloids.
Created by the musical theatre talents of John Kander, Fred Ebb and legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, Chicago’s sexy, sassy score includes the show-stopping songs “Razzle Dazzle”, “Cell Block Tango”, and “All That Jazz”. Winner of six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and a Grammy.
Chicago will take place at the Regent between Monday March 14 and Saturday March 19 next year.
