Coronavirus: 657 more people die with COVID-19 in England – as UK death toll passes 10,000

Another 657 people in England have died after testing positive for coronavirus – bringing the UK death toll to 10,612.

The figure is down from yesterday where 823 people died across England.

The latest stats came after it was revealed 24 people had died in Scotland, 18 in Wales and 11 in Northern Ireland.

That means the total daily figure for the UK is 710.

The new figures follow a rise of 917 yesterday and the country’s biggest rise of 980 on Friday.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he ‘owes his life’ to the NHS in his first statement since leaving intensive care at London’s St Thomas Hospital.

His father Stanley Johnson said the Conservative leader nearly ‘took one for the team’.
