Families are being urged to stay away from the local parks and beauty spots as temperatures look set to hit 20 degrees over the bank holiday weekend.
With the UK on lockdown due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, ministers are warning families they should continue to follow the strict social distancing measures imposed by Boris Johnson last week.
But at yesterday’s daily briefing, health secretary Matt Hancock urged people to stay at home.
He said: “This is a national effort, and every single person in this country can play their part in this plan.
“This Easter will be another test of the nation’s resolve. It’s a time of year when people normally come together.
“But however warm the weather, however tempting your local beach or park, we need everyone to stay at home.
“Because in hospitals across the country, NHS staff are battling day and night to keep desperately sick people breathing, and they need you to stay at home.”
Police officers in Staffordshire have already hit out at people travelling to local beauty spots as they regularly patrol the Roaches near Leek.
