Coronavirus updates: Disruption to schools and pubs as pandemic continues

A total of 1,950 cases of coronavirus have now been confirmed across the UK – although due to restricted testing the actual figure is likely to be far higher.

Across the country 60 people who tested positive for COVID-19 have died – with 65 patients confirmed as having recovered.

There are ten confirmed cases in Staffordshire and seven in Cheshire East, but the figure for both is likely to be higher due to the criteria for testing.

Pub and restaurant chains have warned of a downturn in trading – with schools also closing due to staff shortages.

Events including the Euro 2020 football tournament and the Eurovision Song Contest have been postponed.

Supermarkets are changing their opening hours – with the UK Foreign Office now advising against all non-essential travel outside the country.
