Defi Du Seuil and Un De Sceaux set to clash again in the Matchbook Clarence House Chase at Ascot

- Defi Du Seuil and Un De Sceaux are likely to clash again on Saturday
- Last year’s winner Altior has been withdrawn by trainer Nicky Henderson
Defi Du Seuil and Un De Sceaux, one-two in last month’s Tingle Creek Chase, are on course to clash again in Saturday’s Matchbook Clarence House Chase at Ascot.
The pair were only separated by a neck at Sandown but winner Defi Du Seuil, who also won the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham in November, is 4-6 favourite with Coral despite the fact Un De Sceaux is bidding for a fourth win in the race.
Last year’s winner Altior has been withdrawn by trainer Nicky Henderson, who has Janika among the five entries for the race. Henderson has consistently warned he would shy away from likely testing ground at the Berkshire course with Altior, who also missed last weekend’s Silviniaco Conti Chase at Kempton.

Altior’s pre-Cheltenham Festival race now looks likely to be the Game Spirit Chase at Newbury on February 8.
Meanwhile, Delta Work, the Gordon Elliott-trained winner of the Grade One Savills Chase at Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting, heads the 15 entries for the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup on February 2.
The only British entry for the £215,000 contest is La Bague Au Roi, trained by Warren Greatrex and a winner at the Dublin Racing Festival last year.
