Hospital bosses have confirmed 190 patients who tested positive for coronavirus across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire are now recovering at home.
University Hospital of North Midlands (UHNM), which runs Royal Stoke University Hospital in Hartshill and Stafford’s County Hospital, confirmed the news ahead of the Government’s latest coronavirus briefing.
It came just hours after Public Health England revealed 115 people had died from Covid-19 at the two medical facilities. A further person died at the Harplands Hospital having been transferred from Royal Stoke.
Earlier this week StokeonTrentLive revealed 130 patients had been declared ‘medically fit for discharge’ from the two hospitals.
A UHNM spokesman said: “Thanks to all of our staff at UHNM and to you for staying at home and protecting the NHS.
“Remember to continue social distancing and stay at home.”
Latest figures from the Department of Health and Social Care show over 108,000 people across the country have tested positive for coronavirus. Of those, 14,576 have died.
