A police chase across Stoke-on-Trent ended with the driver’s arrest and a stolen car being seized.
Eye-witnesses say at least 11 police cars and a riot van descended on Beverley Drive, Bentilee, in the early hours of this morning (November 8).
At around midnight, officers were alerted to a suspicious vehicle and a pursuit then ensued.
It came to a conclusion when the car was abandoned on a nearby field at around 2.30am.
The motorist was then detained on suspicion of driving offences before being taken into custody for questioning.
One resident, whose CCTV captured the unfolding drama, told StokeonTrentLive: “There was a huge police presence. Around 11 to 14 police cars and a riot van and more kept coming. There were six on one side and several on the other.
“There was also a car on the fields.”
Details of whether the suspect was a man or a woman, their age and address have not been released at this stage.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Police were alerted to a stolen vehicle at around midnight which lead to a pursuit.
“The vehicle was finally stopped in Beverley Drive, Bentilee, in the early hours of this morning and the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving offences. The car was confirmed to be stolen and seized.”
