Hungry? Try this new dessert bar and its massive selection of waffles, crepes, cookie dough and ice cream shakes!

Two childhood friends have opened up their own town centre dessert bar.

Daniel Shah and Wakaas Hussain, both aged 26, grew up together in Tunstall.

After working in various jobs, the pair decided to go into business together and their new venture, Temptations Dessert Bar, is now open in Newcastle.

Daniel, who was working with his dad in a car garage before opening Temptations, said: “This is a bit of a student area and we didn’t feel like there were many places for students to go out to and we wanted to set one up. We thought doing desserts would be fun and it is a popular thing at the moment.

“We’re are from Stoke-on-Trent and, whenever we would go anywhere, we would leave and go to a bigger city. We thought we wanted to bring something to this area.

“We wanted it to be an elegant place for all types of people – students, couples, families. We want to cater for everyone.”

Examples of the calorific delights on offer include the ‘You Know You Want To’ crepe – with crushed Ferrero Rocher, Belgian chocolate sauce and chopped nuts and served with Carte D’Or praline and hazelnut gelato – and the Triple Threat Tribute waffles, with milk chocolate chunk brownie pieces with white chocolate drizzle, dark chocolate shavings and triple chocolate gelato.

The milkshake menu has seven signature ice cream shakes plus 24 other flavours, including Lotus Biscoff, Terry’s Chocolate Orange and Kinder Bueno.

There is also a selection of ‘old school’ puds including concrete cake – ‘a classic school dessert for the ’90s kids’ – and cornflake tart, plus hot and cold drinks.

The formerly empty unit in Midway has been given a major overhaul and decked out in black and purple, with a floral wall and clever lighting.

Daniel said: “It was in a real bad state. We have had to completely redo it. We have been planning this for a long time and it took a lot of work. We are really pleased with how it’s turned out.
