Man, 24, arrested after car crashes into Stoke-on-Trent house



A man has been arrested after a car crashed into a Stoke-on-Trent house.

Staffordshire Police were called after the vehicle hit the porch of a property in Newcastle Lane, Penkhull, yesterday (June 13).

Debris was sent flying across the front lawn of the property and a structural engineer was called to the scene to check the severity of the damage.

Officers have arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of a number of driving offences and he remains in police custody.

A 23-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without consent. He has now been released with no further action to be taken.

An investigation is ongoing into the incident.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a house on Newcastle Lane, Penkhull at 4pm on Sunday 13 June.

“A 24-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested on suspicion of a number of driving offences. He remains in police custody at this time.

“A 23-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without consent, has been released with no further action to be taken.

“Enquiries continue.”
