A suspected drink-driver travelled the wrong way up the M6Toll road before reversing into a police car and assaulting an officer.
The Staffordshire Police Dogs and Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) unit along with the Central Motorway Policing Group (CMPG) spotted the driver in the early hours of this morning (January 4).
He was driving on the M6Toll – a private stretch of motorway that links the Cannock area to just east of Birmingham.
When they attempted to stop the motorist, officers said he reversed into a police car before assaulting a cop, causing minor injuries.
The man – who has not been identified – is now in custody.
A Staffs Police Dogs and ARV spokesman said: “The ARV along with CMPG arrested a male for driving while unfit through drink and drugs.
“He drove the wrong way and crashed on the M6Toll Road.
“He reversed into a police vehicle and assaulted officers who detained him causing minor injuries.
“He is now in custody.”
