Murderer Lewis Crofts sentenced to life imprisonment for stabbing Kimberley Deakin to death – updates from court

Murderer Lewis Crofts is due to be sentenced this afternoon after stabbing a young mum to death.

The 30-year-old admitted killing Kimberley Deakin last month just days before his trial was due to be held at Stafford Crown Court.

He repeatedly stabbed the 29-year-old at her Burslem home before leaving her for dead and fleeing in a car.

But Crofts was later arrested in Northamptonshire and charged with Kimberley’s murder.

Kim, of Leigh Street, was pronounced dead at the Royal Stoke University Hospital last November.

A post-mortem examination found Kim – who had given birth to baby Ava last summer – died from stab wounds.

Crofts, from Dorset, is due to be sentenced at Stafford Crown Court from 3pm on Tuesday, May 4.
