New initiative launched to nurture children’s interest in cricket

Staffordshire Cricket are promoting a new ECB initiative to help to nurture the next generation of talent.

The ECB have launched Dynamos Cricket, which is a programme aimed at children aged between eight and 11.

This is a follow on to the popular All Stars scheme, which will continue to run across the country.

All Stars, which was designed for five to eight-year-olds, saw more than 68,000 youngsters take their first steps in cricket last summer.

Dynamos will encourage boys and girls to have fun and fall in love with the game.

It will encourage children who have taken part in the All Stars format to continue their cricket education, but is also in place to attract children who are new to the game.

In Dynamos, each week, participants will develop new cricketing skills including batting, bowling and fielding.

They will have the chance to play a fast-paced and exciting game of countdown cricket – a new format which mirrors The Hundred.

Every child taking part will receive a New Balance Dynamos shirt with their name and number on the back.

They will get access to a Dynamos app providing cricket tips, activities and quizzes, alongside skills and tips so that they can practice at home and with their friends as well as receiving packs of Topps Cricket Attax trading cards, featuring some of the best players from The Hundred.

All Stars Cricket provides a fantastic first experience for all children aged between five and eight where they’re guaranteed eight weeks of jam-packed fun, activity and skills development.

The programme is designed to introduce children to the sport, teaching them new skills, helping them make new friends and have a great time doing so.

Every child that registers will receive a backpack full of goodies that include a backpack, cricket bat, cricket ball, personalised shirt with your child’s name and a cap.

All children returning to All Stars again, will receive a new bat, ball, personalised t-shirt and a set of stumps.

Parents can find out more about their local five to 11-year-old cricket offers and sign up to take part at either dynamoscricket.co.uk or for All Stars Cricket at allstarscricket.co.uk
