Stoke City midfielder Ryan Woods has dropped a heavy hint about where he’d like his future to be… and it isn’t in the Potteries.
Woods is currently enjoying life on loan at play-off chasing Millwall and would love, it appears, to make the move permanent come the end of the season.
He admits not knowing for sure what the future holds is unsettling, but is hoping to twist a few arms in south London between now and the end of the season.
Not least that of Millwall manager Gary Rowett after he rejoined the man who signed him for Stoke.
“It would be nice to know, but at the end of the day I’m just enjoying playing regularly again and being around a good set of lads,” he said.
“I’m enjoying the surroundings and that’s the most important thing.
“Things will take care of themselves at the end of the season. I’m sure it will happen sooner rather than later.”
Asked if he still had a future at Stoke, he replied: “I can’t honestly answer because I honestly don’t know.
“Other things will take care of themselves. Whether I come here, it’s down to my performances.
“It’s been brilliant. I’ve been out with the lads a number of times for food and what not. It’s helped the number of games I’ve had to play, people really get to know the real you after a full 90 minutes of football.
“I feel like I’m getting there with every single game. Sometimes it’s hard going on a Tuesday or Wednesday after a Saturday, but that’s what everyone wants to do. That’s all I’ve ever known until Stoke.”
