Norwich City could plot transfer hijack on Stoke City

Norwich City could emerge as suitors once again for Angus Gunn.

Gunn joined Stoke City on a long-term loan from Southampton in October when Jack Butland left for Crystal Palace – and has agreed to stop until the end of next season.

But the emergence of Joe Bursik and form of Adam Davies has kyboshed Gunn’s hopes of being a guaranteed starter and the deal could be off if he can find a new home this summer.

The 25-year-old is unlikely to be break back into Ralph Hasenhuttl’s plans at Southampton but HampshireLive and The Pink Un claim that his old club Norwich could be interested.

Norwich are making plans in case of the departure of Organ Nyland, who is yet to sign a contract extension and Gunn is on the list, having impressed on a season on loan at Carrow Road while he was on the books at Man City.

The Pink Un adds: “We understand that amongst those names are former City loan keeper Gunn and Brighton’s Christian Walton, who is due to depart the club next month when his contract expires.”

Brighton have triggered a one-year option on Walton’s contract amid ‘considerable interest’.

He spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers.
