October half-term is still a little way off, but the first family events are already appearing on local calendars. If you like to plan ahead, there are crafts, films, workshops and seasonal activities beginning to take shape across the city.

Creative days at the Mitchell Arts Centre
The Mitchell Arts Centre has a run of family-focused activities listed for the week. Highlights include a K-Pop Party on Tuesday 27 October, a Dance Through Decades workshop on Wednesday 28 October, and a Disney Through the Years Princess Party on Thursday 29 October. There is also an under-18s open-mic event on the Tuesday afternoon.
Make, carve and get crafty
Bolton Gate Arts has Cookies & Carving sessions listed for 27 and 28 October. Middleport Pottery is also listing Halloween kids’ craft sessions on Thursday 29 October, giving families a chance to pair a hands-on activity with one of the city’s most distinctive heritage settings.
Films, folklore and Halloween evening events
For older children and grown-ups, the current listings include a Ghostbusters cult-film screening at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery on Friday 30 October, a Halloween Theatre Night at Middleport Pottery on Saturday 31 October, and a Tim Burton-themed event at Stoke Minster on the same day.
