Police find body in search for missing Cheshire man Robert Godfrey



Police have called off their search for missing 64-year-old Robert Godfrey.

Cheshire Police have confirmed they are no longer searching for Robert, from Winsford, after discovering a man’s body earlier today.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The body was discovered in a wooded area near to Lily Lane, Byley.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “The body was discovered near to Lily Lane at around 5.20pm.

“Formal identification has not yet taken place, but it is believed to be that of missing man Robert Godfrey.

“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

“His death is not believed to be suspicious.

“A case file will be prepared for the coroner.”
