Two men who were arrested following the death of a North Staffordshire woman have been released from police custody.
Police and paramedics were called to Thames Road in Clayton on Sunday after a woman was reportedly in a critical condition.
Despite their best efforts, paramedics were unable to save her life. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police officers have today confirmed they are not yet in a position to identify the woman.
It comes as the investigation into her death resulted in two men – aged 28 and 40 – being arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “The two men have been released under investigation while inquiries continue.”
Paramedics attended the property shortly before 6.45pm on Sunday.
“Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a woman, who was in a critical condition.
“Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite their best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.”
