Police officers have revealed they closed the A500 in both directions this morning due to a man on a bridge.
The major carriageway was closed from junction 16, near Crewe, to the A34 Talke Road in Talke, from around 5.20am today (April 22).
The road has now reopened.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “The A500 has now reopened and it closed while we dealt with a male on a bridge.
“The initial call came in to us around 4.48am.”
Traffic monitoring company INRIX revealed the road was forced to close.
INRIX said: “A500 D Road in both directions closed due to police incident from M6 J16 (Stoke-On-Trent / Crewe, Millend) to A34 Talke Road (Talke Roundabout, Peacock Hay).”
