Police have closed a city road following a house fire.
Firefighters were called to the blaze at a semi-detached property on Tunstall’s Greenbank Road this evening.
The road has been shut between the junctions with Norton Avenue and Thornley Road while crews deal with the incident.
Speaking to StokeonTrentLive from the scene, station manager Helen Chadwick confirmed the fire was contained to an upstairs bedroom.
While damage has been caused to the property’s loft space firefighters were able to stop it from spreading any further.
Ms Chadwick said: “We have used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and we are remaining at the scene to dampen down and ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
“The property is empty and there was no-one at the address. None of the residents on the street have been affected or had to leave their homes. “
Now an investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the fire.
Ms Chadwick added: “It is too early to say what the cause is and the police are here tonight to help with the road closure.”
