Police stop two motorists at M6 service station who had travelled to sell items during the coronavirus lockdown

Motorway police have stopped two motorists at an M6 service station after they travelled to sell items during the coronavirus lockdown.

Central Motorway Police said they had advised the pair to go home at Keele Services, between J15 and J16 of the M6.

They tweeted: “Please #StayHomeSaveLives unlike two vehicles stopped at Keel Service M6 in the Staffordshire Police area.

“They both travelled a distance to sell items. Don’t think this was essential travel. Both spoken to and advised to go home.”

Another 888 people have died with COVID-19 in the UK, bringing the total to 15,464.
