Popular pub bans under-21s (unless you’re eating or with family)

A popular pub has become an over-21s venue.

The Ash Inn, in Mow Cop, brought in the new rule on Sunday.

Its Challenge 25 policy means anyone who looks under the age of 25 will be asked to provide ID to prove they are 21 or over.

Under-21s are still allowed on the premises if they are dining or drinking with their family.

In a Facebook post to customers, the venue said: “We are strictly an over-21 venue unless you are dining or drinking with your family.

“We are promoting our family atmosphere and want to offer a safe environment at all times.

“We are following all of the Government’s guidelines and are Covid secure.

“We are zero tolerance to drugs, violence, physical and verbal abuse to staff or any of our patrons. There will be no exceptions, so please don’t ask.

“We are looking forward to welcoming you all and hope you enjoy your visit.”

Customers have also been reminded to remain in the same seats and not queue outside the toilet.

The venue added: “Our wonderful staff are working way beyond what they should to try to ensure you have an enjoyable experience. Please be patient and enjoy the glorious views. Please stick to the Government rules where Covid applies.”
