Popular supermarket Morrisons has unveiled plans to install a car washing pod at one of its major South Cheshire stores.
The supermarket giant has submitted a scheme to Cheshire East Council that would see a car wash open on its Dunwoody Way branch in Crewe.
The application includes a pre-fabricated building and a large canopy that would span nine of the bays at the branch.
A statement submitted to Cheshire East reads: “The scheme seeks to revitalise the existing WM Morrisons car park by offering more choice to customers and generating new employment opportunities through the provision of a Car Park Valet pod.
“WM Morrisons hope that the advantages of this proposal as well as the overall benefits to the local community will be supported.
“The Car Park Valet pod is a prefabricated single storey unit which occupies 1 car parking space. The open-air wash bay and canopy covered prep bay occupy a further nine bays.
“The prep bay is covered by a lightweight canopy secured to a metal frame which will be anchored into the existing car park surface.
“The Car Park Valeting pod will display signage. With regards to drainage the pods will link into the existing car park drainage system.”
WM Morrison has submitted a second planning application for an advertisement sign for the valet.
A public consultation on the plans is running until May 13. A decision is then expected in the coming weeks.
