Port Vale captain Leon Legge has been named in the EFL team of the week.
The centre half is selected after scoring Vale’s opener at Walsall then helping them hold on after they came under severe second-half pressure in the 2-2 draw.
The 34 year old has been in fine form this season, playing every one of the Vale’s 35 league games, and chipping in with four goals.
The EFL team is selected across all three divisions so Legge gets his place alongside Championship and League One selections.
Also in the team of the week is former Vale defender Ryan Inniss, the centre half who was a popular loan signing at Vale Park.
He had two loan spells at the Vale, from Crystal Palace, under Rob Page in 2014/15 and 2015/16. The 24 year old had further loans at Southend, Colchester and Dundee before joining Newport on loan in August.
The manager for this week’s EFL team of the week is Keith Curle after his Northampton side ended a run of four defeats by winning 2-0 at home to high-flying Colchester.
Stoke City miss out on representation despite their 2-0 win at home to Cardiff City in which midfielder and goalscorer Joe Allen may have been a strong candidate.
Legge is the second Vale player in two weeks to make the EFL team of the week. Mark Cullen was selected for his two-goal performance in the 3-0 win at home to Colchester on February 15.
