Port Vale’s attacking midfielder Dan Trickett-Smith has joined FC United of Manchester on an initial month’s loan.
The former Crewe and Liverpool academy player joined the Vale from Leek Town on deadline day last January, on a two-and-a-half year deal but hasn’t featured in the first team. The 24 year old had a spell on loan at Curzon Ashton earlier this season and has signed for FC United in time for their game against Bamber Bridge this afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Vale head to Walsall this afternoon looking to strengthen their place in the play-off spots. John Askey’s side are up to sixth after last week’s 3-0 win at Colchester.
Vale have taken 13 points from their last five games but face a 13th-placed Walsall side who have taken seven from their last three. That includes a dramatic victory at home to Vale’s play-off rivals Northampton last week when Darrell Clarke’s team came from two goals down to win 3-2.
