The Port Vale supporters club discussed fund-raising ideas when they met Vale directors this week.
Supporters’ club chairman Mark Porter says his group is keen to help owners Kevin and Carol Shanahan, having backed them even before they took over the Vale last May.
Some fans have suggested raising money for a concourse in the unfinished part of the Lorne Street Stand.
So, the supporters’ club discussed that with directors to see whether it is a possibility or there are other projects around the ground fans could support.
They are planning more regular meetings to discuss the best options.
Porter says fund-raising projects must be closely co-ordinated with the Vale.
He added: “We want to help the club whatever way we can. We get great support from the football club and they give us good guests who come and answer questions at our supporters’ club meetings.
“We don’t want to rush into something, we want to work with the club and make sure it’s right.”
Meanwhile, he’s looking forward to this weekend’s game at Walsall where the Vale will be backed by more than 2,000 travelling supporters.
He said: “It’s nice to be taking so many fans and being in a situation where we are looking towards the top end of the table rather than the bottom. Credit to the manager and everyone who has put in all the hard work behind the scenes.
“But the fans have been phenomenal home and away all season. They really have done us proud.”
Vale’s chief operating officer Claire Halket said: “We are delighted with the positive conversations that came out of the meeting with the Port Vale Supporters Club for the proposed improvement of the Lorne Street Stand.
“We feel that working closely with the Supporters’ Club directly will give us honest feedback from the fans and will ensure we make the right decisions for the future of the club and supporters.”
The Supporters’ Club’s next meeting is on Thursday, February, 27, at Tommy Cheadle’s Pub (7.30pm).
Meanwhile, the Vale are reminding fans the deadline for supporters who wish to pay for their season tickets in monthly instalments is Saturday February 29.
Vale have frozen season ticket prices this season, with the exception of those for young adults, fans aged 18-21, which are being reduced from £255 to £215.
The Early-Bird prices are available until June 30.
