Stoke City player ratings vs Preston as Tymon electric but winner elusive

Stoke City are kicking themselves for leaving Preston with one point rather than three. Here are the player ratings from Deepdale.

Davies: Will wonder if he could have got nearer Whiteman free-kick. Short goal-kicks not for the nervous Stoke fan. 5

Smith: Welcome return of threat down the right, getting into good positions to cross and shoot. 7

Tymon: Super cross for Powell opener and pace and drive down the left. Some deliveries were begging to be put away. 8

Ostigard: Took booking for the team when he raced back to stop counter-attack. 6

Souttar: Skipper again. Some vital touches when sweeping up in the middle of the defence. 8

Wilmot: Back on the left of back three and linked well with Thompson and Vrancic going forward. 7

Thompson: Helped knit midfield together next to Sawyers and always looking for a positive pass. 7

Vrancic: One of his liveliest performances, fizzing just behind Jacob Brown with flicks, shimmies and quick passing. 8

Sawyers: Spread ball with a sizzle at times but conceded free-kick for Whiteman equaliser. 7

Powell: Brilliant header for a player who can’t stop scoring. Denied second by a terrific save. 8

Brown: Figurehead for the attack but needs to deliver goals of his own too. 6
