Suspected kidnappers arrested in Stoke-on-Trent as two women hospitalised



Two men have been arrested on suspicion of kidnap in Stoke-on-Trent.

Around eight police cars were spotted by witnesses on Chamberlain Avenue in Penkhull at around 8am this morning (April 4).

Witnesses also saw paramedics around the Croft Crescent and Tudor Close area.

Police officers have this afternoon confirmed two men have been arrested on suspicion of kidnap.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We were called at 6.45am this morning to reports of two women in distress on Croft Crescent.

“Two men, a 24-year-old and a 26-year-old, both from Stoke-on-Trent, have been arrested on suspicion of kidnap.

“The women, who have no serious injuries, were taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

“Inquiries are continuing.”

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: “We were called to reports of a medical emergency on Croft Crescent at 7.13am this morning. Two ambulances attended the scene.

“We have treated two patients, both of whom have been taken to hospital for further treatment.”
