Swimmer who died at Crosby beach was Stoke-on-Trent man, 21



The man who tragically lost his life at Crosby Beach has been named as Hamza Mansoor – a 21-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent.

Emergency services had been called out to the popular beach on Tuesday evening following reports of a group of men who were in trouble in the water.

Merseyside Police say that one man passed away following the incident while a second man was taken to hospital where he was described as being in a critical condition.

Sefton Coroners’ Court has confirmed the name of the man who sadly died as Hamza Mansoor, aged 21, of the Shelton area of Stoke-on-Trent. It is also understood he is known as Hamza Kiyani.

It is believed a special service took place at Hanley’s City Central Mosque last night where hundreds of worshippers attended – with many thought to be outside as well.

No further details have been released on the man who was in hospital in a critical condition.
