Teen tearaways banned from town centre as trouble flares

Police have warned town centre troublemakers they face being arrested after bringing in a dispersal order.

The order is in place across the centre of Crewe after neighbourhood officers responded to a number of reports of anti-social behaviour yesterday.

It means that officers can ‘disperse’ groups of people behaving badly.

And those who don’t comply with the instructions face being arrested.

Neighbourhood officers covering Crewe confirmed the order was in place via their Facebook page. They wrote: “Yesterday we had reports of anti-social behaviour in the town centre so a Dispersal Authority is in place.

“This gives us the power to immediately disperse groups or people acting in an anti-social manner. Failure to comply with this direction is an offence and you could be arrested.”

Dispersal orders are currently being regularly used around the Meir and Meir Park areas of Stoke-on-Trent across the weekend as officers in North Staffordshire continue to tackle troublesome youths.
