‘They can’t’ – Blackburn Rovers fans have this to say about Stoke City ahead of midweek clash

Blackburn Rovers fans have dubbed Wednesday night’s clash with Stoke City as a ‘must win game’.

Tony Mowbray’s side are eyeing promotion to the Premier League and are hoping to be the side to break into the top six before the end of the season.

They welcome Stoke to Ewood Park knowing that they can close the gap between themselves and the play-off places to just two points should results over the week go their way.

The Lancashire outfit have lost just one of their last eight games in the league.

Disappointing defeats against QPR and Preston were sandwiched between victories over Charlton and Cardiff City for the Potters who continues to distance themselves from the botom three.

Saturday saw Blackburn surrender a two goal lead to share the points with promotion challengers Brentford after a controversial penalty decision allowed Said Benrahama to level from the spot.

And striker Adam Armstrong this week expressed his desire to turn heads in the division by going on a winning run.

Here is what Blackburn Rovers fans on the club’s BRFCS fan forum have been saying…

Phillip L: Banana skin or banana? We deservedly lost this fixture last year so not a gimme three points. Stoke seem to be a mood side. Hit them hard with a high tempo start and we should be ok. This fixture last season was probably one of our worst performances with no excuses.

Joe H: Nearly bottled it in the end but basically walked it at their place. They were very poor and we were unlucky to have to try and find a winner in the first place. They’ve improved but not by too much.

BigDogSteel: I can’t help but feel this one is huge. I’m not one for “must win” games, but in a way I feel this is as a win would be great momentum with another home game coming up.

OldJamFan: I think we’ll have too much for Stoke. They can’t even perform in Stoke on a cold, wet Wednesday evening in February, let alone in east Lancashire.

JHRover: This will require a different side to our game than that shown at Brentford, Charlton and Fulham. They are going to be hard to break down and will probably be happy with a point.

JimMK2: Stoke a better side than the one we played earlier in the season and fighting for their lives.
