The bosses of a hotel say police took no action against a couple accused of having sex on a stairwell at its venue.
The Tollgate Hotel, in Ripon Road, in Blurton, has responded after a neighbour revealed she called in Staffordshire Police over the sexual antics of a couple.
The alarm was raised at 1pm on Saturday, June 26 – just minutes after the alleged crime had been committed.
Now Staffordshire Police have revealed they were called to ‘two people engaging in sexual activity in a car’ – with no mention of the stairwell.
A police spokesman said: “Police were called at 1pm on June 26 to reports of two people engaging in sexual activity in a car on Ripon Road, in Blurton.”

In response, a hotel spokesman said: “I can confirm that a couple were not having sex on the stairwell. We had two people enter the car park who decided to walk upstairs to the hotel rooms.
“They were asked to leave by the hotel staff and when they refused police were called and they were escorted away. No action was taken against the couple and no action taken against our hotel.”
The police have not got any record of whether any action was taken against the mystery couple.
