Woman in hospital after falling from bridge in Stoke-on-Trent



A woman who fell from a bridge over Potteries Way earlier today is receiving treatment in hospital.

Emergency services were called to the dual carriageway just below the Town Road bridge in  Hanley  at around 11.15am this morning.

Members of the public contacted the police after seeing the woman, believed to be in her 50s, fall onto the road below.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said the woman is now ‘receiving surgery’ at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

It is not known what injuries the woman suffered.

The road was closed as emergency services dealt with the incident.
