Drivers using the M6 are being warned of new restrictions as work to transform a roundabout just off the motorway gets underway.
Highways England say work on the roundabout at junction 19 of the M6, near Knutsford, Cheshire, has started which means a new bridge over the motorway is to be built.
The work is being carried out to improve the flow of traffic between the M6 and the A556. It is hoped the work will speed up journeys and reduce congestion for motorists as well as improving the area for pedestrians and cyclists.
A spokesman has warned people using the motorway that the hard shoulder will be closed during the day and there will also be some overnight lane closures.
A temporary 30 mile per hour speed limit will also be installed on the roundabout.
The improved M6 junction 19 will tie into the A556 Knutsford to Bowdon bypass which opened three years ago this month. It will also complement the smart motorways already completed or underway in the north Midlands and Cheshire
