Yobs have caused over £600 worth of damage at a community allotments by slashing the side of a polytunnel off.
The damage is believed to have been caused by heartless vandals between Tuesday (April 14) and yesterday at the Church Road Community Garden in Biddulph.
It comes years after the keen gardeners using the site installed a metal fence around the allotments to stop vandals from ripping up the polytunnel.
Community police officers are hoping anyone with any information comes forward.
PCSO Peter Johnson from Staffordshire Police, said: “It’s extremely disappointing that someone would cause damage to something that is used by so many in our community, I hope anyone who knows something will do the decent thing and report it to the police.”
Councillor Jill Salt, who represents Biddulph East on Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, took to social media to condemn the yobs.
She said: “Some scumbags have used a knife and cut away the side of our allotment polytunnel on the Church Road plots.
“A massive 20ft section! Last night it happened!
“We’re a community group and this will cost £1-2000 to fix as whole lot now needs doing.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police via Facebook, Twitter, or 101 quoting incident 497 of April 15.
