For most people paying money into the Government through taxes is a way of life.
But now it might be time for the state to pay you if you have one of the surnames listed below.
That’s because the Treasury solicitor publishes a list of unclaimed estates made up of property, goods, and money that have been left behind by people not making a will.
The Bona Vacantia List shows people who have lived in, or were born in, each area and when they died.
It used to publish how much was left behind but has now stopped. So it could be anything from a couple of quid to thousands of pounds.
The is update everyday with newly advertised estates being listed first.
People wanting to make a claim relating to an estate have 12 years to do so and get interest or 30 years without the interest.
