Five people were arrested after armed officers responded to reports of a large fight involving weapons in Hanley.

Armed officers sent to Town Road

Staffordshire Police said officers were called to Town Road shortly before 4.50pm on Wednesday 16 September.

A large group was reported to be fighting, with one person allegedly carrying an axe and another said to have a piece of wood. Armed officers attended the scene.

Police reported no serious injuries. Officers later searched an address and seized an axe.

Five people arrested

A 50-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of affray and assault by beating. Four people from Stoke-on-Trent — three men aged 41, 36 and 33, and a 33-year-old woman — were arrested on suspicion of affray.

At the time of the police update, all five were being questioned in custody. Arrests are not findings of guilt, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Appeal for information

Anyone with information can contact Staffordshire Police on 101 or through the force’s live chat service, quoting incident 573 of 16 September. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
